May I present the resigning Board? Well everyone is not leaving, Sanna and Charlotte are staying on for at least one more year. And many others are stepping in. However, some of us leaving have been members for many years. Anna has maximised her stay with 4 years, Katja, Johan and Lars for 3 years, Ulrica for 2 years and Per for 1 year. Why have we been staying on for such a long time? Honestly, true engagement for the Internationella Engelska Skolan in Lund and also the greatness to meet new people.
Usually, the resigning member receives a box of chocolate at the Annual General Meeting, but since we were so many stepping off this year we decided not to waste any money on gifts. Instead we met privately to cheer one another goodbye after years of interesting work in the PTA Board and not least a lot of fun together. We will miss all the moments we have had together, but I am sure that we cannot keep away totally so most probably we will turn up at PTA meetings, Spring Festival arrangements etc from times to times.
We also learnt something new at the Farewell evening. A hug should last at least 6 seconds. Read below:
“Regular embraces can lower the risk of heart disease, combat stress and fatigue, boost the immune system, lower blood pressure, fight infection and ease depression. Furthermore, as hugging time elapses, levels of the oxytocin hormone increase. Oxytocin is also known as the “feel-good hormone”, the “happy hormone” and even the “love drug”. The hormone calms the nervous system and boosts positive emotions. The flow of oxytocin after a six second hug affects you in the following ways: it lowers blood pressure and helps with anxiety; it lowers cortisol (the stress hormone); and it increases your social connections and sense of belonging. Oxytocin is your friend”.
So from all of us – a big long hug…. for at least 6 seconds!
The PTA Board (until October 3rd)
