Dear Parents, Guardians and Staff!
It seems as if we just started the school year and already the holidays are upon us! It’s been quite a good start with two book clubs, a super fun junior disco and a successful Meet and Greet!
Congratulations to the 5th grade for a strong achievement in Vi i Femman! They placed sixth in Lund Kommun with 21.53 point average. You can see all results on the Swedish Radio home page.
Information from Management
Plans for new PE facilities for schools in the Sankt Lars area are progressing. The schools and the commune are working together to find a good solution for all the students with flexible facilities.
New signs for the designated drop off zones are now in place. Please respect the no stopping zones and help keep our students safe!
The web engine for all of Internationella Engelska Skolan is being replaced with a more modern tool. Mr. Olsson promises that we can look forward to a living school website during Quarter 1 2016!
News from the PTA
PTA Event committee
At the December PTA meeting it was decided that we would establish a permanent Event Committee to plan the discos, Spring Festival and other social activities which may be of interest to students, teachers and parents. It’s a great way to add a special touch to social activities at the school and greatly appreciated by many. If you are interested or want to know more about it please contact PTA Vice Chairperson, Lars Lindström or myself.
The PTA will be starting a fundraiser to support the school’s 4D initiative which was so successful. (Two students made the finals and represented Sweden in South Korea with Ms. Sundin!) Keep an eye open on the PTA web page in January for more information!
Busses for Students
During the break the PTA will be working together with the PTA at Kunskapsskolan on communications with Lund, Lomma and Skånetrafiken to increase the frequency of bus tours for number 6, as well as set up a line between Lomma and Lund as well as increase traffic safety for the children crossing Malmövägen.
We have had monthly PTA meetings. Don’t forget to take a look at the Minutes which are published on SchoolSoft to read the latest news! There you will find more details about the news presented in this Newsletter as well as information relevant only for parents of current students. If you have any topic or idea which you would like to be discussed at the meeting, please do not hesitate to contact your class representative or the PTA.
If you have any old iDevices in drawers that you are no longer using, you are welcome to donate them to the school. The Apple eco system has a number of apps which are very useful for pedagogical purposes. Please contact the PTA if you have any items that you can donate.
Happening Around the School
Holiday Book Club
The books have arrived at the school. Please contact the office to pick up your order. The next book club order period will be before Februarilovet. Happy reading!
Don’t forget to let Ms. Farahmand know if you will attend the “Inte Okej” internet seminar for parents on February 18. As the school will provide coffee and small cakes they need to know approximately how many will attend. You can enroll via SchoolSoft or send a mail to Ms. Farahmand. The seminar is free of charge.
And last but not least, on behalf of the PTA Board I wish you, your family, and friends a most enjoyable holiday season! We look forward to Spring Term 2016 together with you all!
