What do you like most about your country?
Most importantly, my family is there. I also love that each state has their own ‘personality’ in a way.
If you would recommend one place for a tourist to visit in your country, where would that be?
Tennessee, my family loves to go hiking, biking and horseback riding in the Smoky Mountains. It is absolutely beautiful!
What was your dream job when you were a youngster?
I’ve always wanted to be a teacher. I used to teach my stuffed animals when I was very young. Although, I did go through a phase where I wanted to be a chef. Funny thing is.. I can’t cook!
When you have one day off at home, how would you spend it?
I love to clean my apartment, go shopping and relax with friends.
How would you network and meet new friends in a new country?
The newbie teachers have created a really awesome bond this year. It was nice making friends just by going to work!
How would you describe Lund in three words?
Charming, academic and cozy.
How would you describe Sweden in one word?
What is your role at the IESL?
I teach year 4 math, science and English. I also coach the new dance team!
What made you decide to join IESL?
I knew I wanted to teach in Sweden after studying in Linköping last fall. I heard about the International English School through a friend and decided to apply. After visiting IES Lund last December, I was sold on working for this school.
What did you do before you started at IESL?
I was finishing up my degrees at Bellarmine University in Kentucky.
What are your challenges at IESL?
Trying to learn Swedish. Although I teach in English, I would still like to learn the language to better communicate with my students.
Do you have any clear visions you would like to achieve?
I would love to eventually be in administration as either a Principal or Assistant Principal.
Where are you in three years time?
Hopefully still at IESL!
Name one unexpected similarity you have with one of your colleagues.
I recently found out that Ms. Ruchti’s husband is also from Indiana. Small world.

The candy, the people and Stockholm.
What do you prefer to eat?
I love good Mexican food!
You will be staying one month on a deserted island. You may bring one person and two items. Who and what would that be?
I would bring my boyfriend, my dog and a month’s supply of chocolate.
Who is the most famous person you have met?
I know Miss America 2009, Katie Stam, from competing in the Miss Indiana pageant system.
What sport would you never practice?
Well I don’t know how to swim, so I guess any water sport.
What TV show(s) are you a bit embarrassed to tell that you are watching?
Sadly, I love reality TV.
Where do you go for your dream holiday?
I have always wanted to go to Greece!
